Record Checks
Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check:
All Record Checks must be current within the last six months
CPMB does not accept Criminal Record Checks with Vulnerable Sector search from third party companies. They must be obtained from your local police service.
Record checks, sometimes referred to as background checks, are required upon initial application with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba (the College). They are also required to be submitted once every 5 years after initial registration. Record checks must be dated within the 6 months prior to the date of submission. Submitted record checks with positive findings may result in further information being required by the College, and will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Registrants must report any changes that affect the results of the record checks to the College immediately.
If you live in Winnipeg, you must apply to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) for the criminal record check including vulnerable sector. You cannot apply online as the College is NOT a registered agency. To obtain a criminal record check with vulnerable sector check you will need to make an in-person application by going to the WPS headquarters at 245 Smith Street (main entrance off Graham Ave) Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. They are closed on holidays. Results applied for in person will be mailed to you using Canada Post and can be uploaded to your application for Registration; or into the Renewal application once Renewal begins.
If you live in rural Manitoba, please go to your local RCMP detachment for the Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. Processes vary from detachment to detachment, so you will have to ask at your detachment. Once the results of the record check have been received, they can be uploaded to your application for Registration; or into the Renewal application once Renewal begins.
If you live out of province, you will have to check with your local authorities. Please remember to ask specifically for inclusion of the Vulnerable Sector Check with the Criminal Record Check. If you require a letter to obtain the Vulnerable Sector check please contact the college. Once the results of the record check have been received, they can be uploaded to your application for Registration; or into the Renewal application once Renewal begins.
- Adult Abuse Registry Check: If the province where you reside has this check, please get it from that province. If not, then please get the Adult Abuse Registry check from Manitoba – https://web22.gov.mb.ca/AbuseRegistry
- Child Abuse Registry Check: If the province where you reside has this check, please get it from that province. If not, then please get the Child Abuse Registry check from Manitoba – https://web22.gov.mb.ca/AbuseRegistry
- The College of Paramedics of Manitoba will not accept record checks from third parties.
