Council of the College of Paramedics of Manitoba continue to work on revisions to the College Bylaws and will be in communication with College registrants in 2023 regarding any further substantive revisions to the Bylaws.
The current version of the Bylaws of the College of Paramedics of Manitoba is found on the College website: https://collegeparamb.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/CPMB-Bylaws-March-24-2021.pdf
In the meantime, Council of the College of Paramedics of Manitoba would like to consult with membership of the College on a bylaw change that would change the date of the Annual General Meeting. The proposed bylaw change is:
Current Bylaw Wording:
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS 4.3 There shall be at least one annual general meeting (the “AGM”) each year, and: … (b) Each AGM shall occur no later than four months following the College’s fiscal year end;
Proposed Bylaw Wording:
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS 4.3 There shall be at least one annual general meeting (the “AGM”) each year, and: … (b) Each AGM shall occur no later than six months following the College’s fiscal year end;
The fiscal year end of the College is March 31st of each year. The current wording in the Bylaws means the AGM shall be held by the end of July of each year. In order to avoid a meeting date in July, the AGM has been held in June. A June AGM is three months after year end and creates operational challenges in obtaining the audited financial statements and in producing the annual report of the College.
In addition, June is also a very busy month for registrants, related to the completion of many important milestones in the lives of members, such as the culmination of activities/school graduations/ vacation planning, etc. A mid to end of September AGM would allow more time to produce relevant materials for the AGM and might allow greater participation in the AGM by registrants
In accordance with Section 222(5) of The Regulated Health Professions Act the Council must provide a copy of the proposed revised bylaw to members for their review and comment. All comments will be reviewed and considered by Council.
Please review the suggested wording that denotes the change in timing of the conduction of the AGM on an annual basis. Please provide any feedback on this change to the Council by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org by 4:00 p.m. on Friday December 2, 2022. Thank you.
